After raining in the morning today. i didn't had quite option to cast at my regular spot. this time i went to the palm estate to try again some spot there. yet today i got a strike from the new spot i've been casting for several times already. but the popper i used did'nt hook it up although its a medium size one. maybe next time i would catch it!

then i went to the drain nearby the pond, the drain was along the palm trees. then i cast my strike king lure there. the 3rd cast had got me a strike! then i fight back, in my surprise the snakehead was a tiny one, as tiny as my lure. when i measure it, it only the size of my thumb. what a strike from this small fellow. i quickly release it to the drain and hope it would grow bigger to fight another day. the new spot will be in my list for casting again. maybe next time i would get some good results from the spot!

Catch & Release For future!

Today, i went to my regular spot to cast for an hour. After few days of catching some snakehead here, today i hope to catch another. Just only about 10 minutes of casting, i saw a rise that the snakehead just swim in again. i cast my lure towards the rise, 1st cast was no take, then i cast for the 2nd time, this time it's strike hard! i fight back the strike, it was a tough fight too. finally i landed it inland. i measure it weight, and its weight accurately 700 gram. i am thinking of taking back the snakehead as clay was looking for it, but in my second thought if i take it back, then there will be less 1 of snakehead from the spot. then i made up my mind and i release it back to its own natural again, hope to fight it another day. then after that i only got few strike before i go home. just a catch is already good enough for me.

Today i was looking for the spot i've been told yesterday by a fellow who watch me casting. i found the spot and gave it a try. saw some rise and snakehead pop! but almost all the lure i've tried was not taken. maybe today the fish there wont bite.

i went back to my regular spot and cast there. only a tiny snakehead got today. had some few miss strike include a large one. only halfway of fight the snakehead loose. to my surprise too still got some large snakehead there. next time i would visit again the new spot.

my catch on 15-02-09 at the palm estate.

On 15-02-09, i went to the estate palm to try the spot there. the spot was far inside the palm area. there was a lot of small drain inside it. i try only few of it, and i got several strike & only catch a small one. but, for me, this is a good spot which can be try again next time.

today, 16-02-09 i try again my regular spot. the spot were drown in flood on January. i guess it might had some snakehead migrate into the drain. after few cast, i got a strike, only few second i landed it inland. a small snakehead. after taking photo, i release it back into the drain. then i continue my casting along the drain. got few strike but not a solid hook up. then about late in the evening, i got a big strike! this time it fights till i landed it inland. a big one, weighting accurately 1.0 kg! another record of 1.0 kg of snakehead for me for this year. after few photo shoot i happily release itback to its own nature. i dont want to take back the snakehead, because i want it to populate more and grow more of its kind in the drain. Hopefully this catch and release will gave the snakehead to grew more fries and not extinct in the drain.

1st catch with berkley powerbait grub!

Today, after work i went to a spot that being cleared last week in my observation. this spot is not rare to me, as it was before my regular spot for casting the snakehead. just last year i didn't catch any here although its still had the snakehead living there. today i'm calling clay along with me to try out this spot again. when we arrive at the spot, i saw the water are good enough for our casting trip. then we cast along the large drain. only when i change to my berkley powerbait grub, i got a solid hook up with a small & tiny snakehead. finally after for a long time i got again my catch with the berkley powerbait soft plastic! then after few cast again, i try back my bomber bushwhacker spinnerbait, the green colour. this time i also hooked up with a bit larger than the 1st one. the fight are good enough, again my long time lure got another snakehead for me! clay only got some few strike, but not landed in the snakehead. don't worry clay, maybe the other day will serve you with your snakehead catch!

Today, i went to a new spot for snakehead hunting in K.B, my hometown. the area of peladuk was brought to us from cikgu edaffi @ jifat. some of the spot were just being cleared and the 1st spot didn't show any catch for us, as the area was being net almost everyday. then we went to some few spot, still no strike and catches. finally, jifat took us to his girlfriend aunt home. where there lies in front of us some pond around the house area. part of it still muddy, and from a small pond here, i manage to get a catch with my flying frog. small, but good enough to cheer up our trip today. then we went to another pond at the back. this time with only my 1st cast i manage to land in my second snakehead of the evening. after that only strike that miss i got from the pond in front. then we end up our trip at almost 6:30 pm. Hope there will be another trip in my hometown with my caster friends! our trip today were part of myself, jifat, fei, kenny & min.

my flying frog do the job for me!

After a week from Chinese New year, i finally get a catch with my flying frog. this was a good results, as the spot i cast are the usual spot i went for casting, though it was before full of snakehead and other fishes, right now its getting lesser than before. this was the results from some people netting and put their "rawai" there. its very difficult to handle these kind of situation which are no authority on catch & release method. but hopefully in the future, our place will be a safe place for us to conserve & save our fish stock.
